We went to the Fall Festival at church dressed as... you got it, Characters from Star Wars. I am almost ashamed by our nerdiness, but I love him so much! hehe! Here are some pictures of us. I was the hit of the show. I had at least 20 people ask to take a picture of you and probably at least that many people took either video of me or pictures of me without asking! This wallflower kind of liked that! haha! (sorry for the bad quality of the family photo. I was not in charge of the picture taking or I would have made us retake it. I am not even sure it looked that bad on the camera!)

This week Lucas has all of a sudden realized so many new things. Like that there are doors and drawers that open and how fun is it to peek in and discover what is inside!?!?! He has always been a little interested in the Washer and Dryer, but today he dug in! How cute is he?

A few months ago I saw that there is a little Fisher Price Little People nativity. I just knew that Lucas would HAVE to have it! So, I ordered it last week. (I am a little addicted to Little People, don't ask me why) Anyway, they came today. It was time for Lucas to take a nap, but with such excitement, why nap, right!?! I excitedly, I mean we, opened it up and unleashed the myriads of little twist ties on EACH piece and freed all the people and animals and the stable. He is a picture of Lucas' favorite part of the Nativity. And following that is a cute picture of the set in its glory!

My poor sweet, sick baby

Have you heard the saying, walking the floor with a sick baby? Well, I found out that it is true. For some reason, the ONLY thing that makes Lucas feel better and not cry so sad and pathetically, is to walk. My foot has hurt since he was born, so this is a huge undertaking for me!

My poor baby is so miserable. At least he made it a whole 7 months before getting sick for the first time! I think that is pretty incredible. I will have to take a picture of him. He is refusing sleep. He and I both are all red rimmed eyes with HUGE bags. We look so sad! HA!

I am finding yet another reason to stay madly in love with my husband. He has never been one to rise and 'save' me if that means getting out of bed before his nap, or night sleep is out. Well, last night I walked into our room at 3am after dealing with a crying baby for a full hour and he just took him without saying a word and soothed Lucas brilliantly! This is the same man that when a picture fell off the wall and slammed into our fish tank, spilling water everywhere (we didn't know this happened, just heard a LOUD crash in the night) sent his WIFE to go check it out, because he was 'tired'. It was 11:30pm. He had been in bed for 30 minutes! ha! Guess we all do amazing things for our children. Go above and beyond our perceived limitations to do what we can for our sweet ones. I love that man. I love that he will always scoop Lucas up into his arms and run off with him when I have had a hard day. I love that he went to the Dr. office with me today because I was afraid that I would be all hormonal and not hear what the Dr. told us to do for Lucas. I love that he will wake up in the middle of the night to soothe a baby that I have spent an hour trying to soothe without success. I love that, during those hard first 6 weeks, Dave was always fresh and ready to take that wriggling unhappy bundle and get him ready for bed, and somehow work magic I did not posses and get that little gem to sleep. Only my one true love, my helpmate, my best friend. Thank you God for your many blessings.

We got back from the Dr today and she said he needs to be eating lots of real food, so I went and bought him some more food. Today's new food was peas. I think he might like them more than avocado! That's my boy! (I LOVE peas!) Dad fed him tonight, and he got mad when he did not shovel peas fast enough. He got that from me too... I inhale my food!

READING! Lucas' current favorite is featured here. Tails, by Matthew Van Fleet. It is a FUN book. It talks about the different kinds of tails that animals have. Has fluffy tails, spiny tails, scaly tails, etc..

Notice the girl peacock is turning up her nose... then she sees his pretty feathers and she has her tongue out! hahahahahaha! This is one of his favorite pages. The 'shiny' feathers make noise when you scratch them!

So many new things

These are the new things that Lucas can do now:

Sit like a pro. He can even sprawl out and reach for toys all around him.
Bang cups together, or just use anything to make noise!
Put one object into another, as in a toy inside of his cup.
Learning how to drink from a cup.
He likes avocado, not so sure about those bananas.
Loves that Johnny Jump up!
Pass an object from one hand to the other.
Oh, and mommies least favorite, throw his toys down when he is bored with them.

Now THIS is what he was waiting for! We gave Lucas Avocado for lunch today. Now I know he did not like the bananas so much! He is not let any avocado fall out of his mouth! haha! The bananas I was not even sure he swallowed any, till I changed his diaper! Oops!

OK, so Lucas is ALMOST 6 months today. He has been eagerly watching us eat for a few weeks now. He grabs at every cup I try to drink out of. I guess he is ready...
So for his first meal, we choose BANANAS! I love them, but does he???

Went to the annual family reunion at my grandparents house. It sure is lovely there. They are not allowed to sell that house! haha!

If you know Dave, you know that he is a Star Wars fan. I am, well, NOT one. I prefer comedies... but I digress.

Rebekah was visiting, so we packed up the kids and went to the Star Wars exhibit in Fort Worth. Dave was so excited about it he was dancing around like a little kid. Here are some pictures. I will have to say that Lucas was less than thrilled about all this. After all, we got there right at his bedtime. I thank God for my sling! He slept through most of it snug in that wonderful contraption!

What is it about males of the species and the remote? Lucas has become in awe of the remote the past two weeks. When he is really cranky, I can give him the remote, and he will be happy for another five minutes! Of course Dave freaks out. Don't let him ruin MY remote! he screams! haha! I never had a chance. My parents came to visit this weekend and my dad put Lucas down on the floor... and he stayed there... and did not fall over! Now mind you this was for 30 seconds or less, but I DIDN'T KNOW HE COULD DO THAT! Now I have been on a quest all week to catch him in the act. Kind of hard to do since I have to have the camera out and ready AND catch him during those 30 seconds before he topples over! haha! The first picture was from Tuesday, and the other one was later in the week.

Uncle Jesse and Crazy hair

Uncle Jesse came to visit. I think they had fun. It is so crazy to me to think that just 15 years ago I was his age, holding him, and he was Lucas' age! I still think of him as the precocious three year old I left when I went to college. I get startled when this hairy man/boy comes down the stairs instead of a crazy three year old!

Ethan always has some fun new do to show me when he comes over. He calls it his 'crazy hair'. I just love it! The other night I washed Lucas' hair and left it all curled and funny looking. He had crazy hair the next morning! Hope you can see it.. it is only half an inch long! I look forward to faux hawks someday!

Father's Day Diaper

Dave is the one that wanted us to cloth diaper... he just didn't know that I would get addicted! For Father's Day I though I would get him something a little different. Since he changed into his Star Wars t-shirt to greet Lucas at his birth, I thought I would get Lucas a diaper with the Star Wars logo on it. I had a friend embroider it for me. Dave LOVED it! Ethan and Graham came to play last night. Ethan thought that Jesse was SOOOOO cool! They even got to play 'cars' together! These picture might be hard to see, but I will tell you what is going on. In one, they are trading controllers. I thought that was so funny because that is what James and Jesse do, and Ethan just must have intuitively known that you do that! In the other two it is just them kicking back and playing 'cars'.

Lucas went to the Dr today for his 4 month check up. He is tall and skinny!

He is in the 90th percentile for height and the 50th for weight. I so knew we could have tall skinny babies!

Fun with My Friend Graham

I knew these two would get along even while I was pregnant with Lucas. Lucas did not kick much... UNLESS I was feeding Graham! He would kick and kick him! I loved it!

Here they are playing together. So cute how Lucas just watches him. You can see it in his face that he thinks he is just the coolest thing... 'cause HE can MOVE!

The swing broke today. Such a sad day for me. That means I am one step closer to having to let him cry it out. I hate the thought of having to let him cry.

Today we had to work really hard to get him to take his naps, but fortunately for both of us, he found his thumb today too! Here he is after he finally fell asleep today.

Lucas has learned a few more things. He can give a raspberry (in fact constantly), chew his feet, and he found his tongue. He also laughed at dad today. He has giggled before, but only because we tickled him. This time he laughed because he thought something was funny! Of course he would laugh at Dad first...
These are all kinds of pictures. Some to prove that he moves too much for the camera, one of a favorite pj outfit, one of him trying to kick the orange toy in the tub, some of him finding his feet, one raspberry and one found my tongue, one in his new wool soaker.

Oh, the things I have learned!

The past two weeks have gone by like a whirlwind for us. Lucas has learned so much. Here is a list of just a few of them!

The fishy was just the beginning. Now I can move the whole gym by kicking it with my feet!
Speaking of feet, I like to grab them with my hands!
Other things I like to grab with my hands... EVERYTHING.
I have discovered toys. Now I know why mom put that stuff in front of me all the time!
One of my favorites is a tigger toy, and I like the thing that spins and goes on my stroller too!
I discovered that there is a noise maker on my toy mat, and I can make it make noise just by patting it!
I can make mom and dad so happy by giggling when they tickle me on my back. They giggle too!
I can get all over the place by kicking my legs. Sometimes I even roll onto my tummy, but I don't like that. Once I rolled back onto my back.. wish I knew how to do that again!

Now I would have taken pictures, but he is so wiggly that my camera can't keep up with him! All of the pictures I have taken in the past two weeks have a clear background and fussy Lucas! haha!

Yesterday Lucas discovered that HE can touch the fish hanging from his floor mat AND when he touches it.... IT MOVES! How exciting! I wish I could really capture the look on his face as he explores his world! He is so focused and so excited about it at the same time! Oh how precious. This is why I have always wanted to be a mother... to see the world through those fresh eager to learn eyes!

My little boy came home from the hospital ten weeks ago today. How appropriate is it that I put him in his going home outfit one last time before he gets too tall for it! Oh, how precious is he? He is growing just too fast for me already. Just weeks ago I was ready for him to be 'more fun' and now I want him to SLOW DOWN! haha! I guess this is why people have more than one?!?!

It snowed today! Not even the pathetic sprinkles that most Texans cheer over because they have not seen real snow.. but real stuff! Just small amounts of flurries, but for most of the morning. I wish it had been heavier so I could have taken a picture. Who knew that Lucas would see his first snow so soon? Speaking of that little guy, he is already outgrown most of his 0-3 month outfits! I need to hurry and take pictures of him in my favorite outfits.. My little boy is growing big too fast...

Wide-eyed in Wonder

I am now convinced that it is just part of the male, or even the McKee side (my side), genetic make up to be in love with Home Depot. I took Lucas with me to pick up something, and he was in the cart with his mouth wide open and his eyes opened even wider in total awe! It was so funny! I really wished I had a camera at that moment! He just looked and looked. I swear if he could talk he would have told me, "Now mom, THIS is shopping!" haha! You go buddy! That is MY BOY!

Ethan's Easter Party

Today we went to Ethan's house to visit with the Easter bunny. I have a special friendship with the Easter Bunny, seeing as he is a bunny, and I am a friend to ALL bunnies! :-D Lucas did not make it into any of the pictures. I think since he was not chasing after candy or colored eggs, he did not qualify for a picture! But here is a picture with his friends that can walk!

St. Patty's Day Belated

Today Lucas and I went to a park with our friends. We all dressed in St Patty's Day outfits for the pictures.. how fun! Lucas was so good, he lasted almost the whole day without crying because he missed his nap! When we went to McDonald's afterwards, my wonderful friends took turns 'swinging' him in his carrier so that he could take a catnap. They are so wonderful and he is so sweet! How blessed am I? Oh, and Daddy gave Lucas his bath this morning and even put on his clothes. He did a great job, huh?

It was so funny to see how each kid, with their very different personalities, reacted to the long picture taking. There were more pictures of mommy's rear ends than there are of the kids!

Grown up too fast

It occurred to me last night how much I needed to truly treasure every moment I spend with my little family. I was feeding Lucas and breathing in the sweet smell of his little head and I thought about how just a few years ago, my littlest brother was this small and sweet. Now he is a big hairy teenager! How did that happen? All I did was go to college! Then I thought about how, so much sooner than I want to imagine, my little sweet smelling boy is going to be a big hairy teenager and go off to college too! Oh no! Texas swaddling blankets

Have you ever seen the 'Texas Snowman' globes? You know, the ones with just water a top hat, coal and a carrot? Well, it is just now officially spring but Lucas is already feeling the heat. He likes to be swaddled for his naps and night time but does NOT like to be hot! So, crafty mom that I am, I made him some fancy new cool blankets out of sheet-like all cotton material. He likes them!

Oh, and here he is stretching after a cool nap with Dad! Aren't they handsome!

Another Reason Why I Use Cloth...

So I just came home from a trip out of town and needed to wash a HUGE load of baby laundry. I threw it all in and went on an errand. When I went to put the load in the dryer there was all this gel like stuff on top of the load.... What is this... and just at that moment I knew.... somehow a disposable diaper got thrown in with the wash! Ugh, how do I clean up THAT mess! I guess this is just the beginning of the messes I will get to figure out how to clean up now that I have a little man in the house!
